Tellus plans to develop reliable, high quality salt and associated minerals for the food and food processing industries, livestock and industrial markets in Australia and overseas.
The mine will be developed using underground room and pillar mining techniques that have been used by salt miners for hundreds of years and are tried and tested by the Australian coal industry. The rock salt (halite) will be brought to the surface, crushed into varying grades (coarse, medium and fine salt) and largely sold without processing. Any other minerals within the salt will be processed in small evaporative and crystallisation ponds on site then sent to market.

This design has an on-site renewable energy power station (solar / salt battery), underground research panel, surface technology park and visitor centre.
