Approvals Process and Timelines

In order to construct and operate the proposed Chandler Facility, Tellus is seeking approval from:
  • The Commonwealth Department of the Environment and Energy (DoEE)
  • The Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (EPA)
  • The Northern Territory Department of Mines and Energy (DME)
There are many pieces of environmental legislation that the EIS must address. However, the key environmental legislation which the EIS addresses are:
  • Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999
  • Native Title Act
  • Environmental Assessment Act
  • Waste Management Pollution Control Act
  • Minerals Title Act
  • Mining Management Act
Following submission of the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), Tellus anticipates about 12 months before approval will be granted for the Chandler Facility.
